I've been involved with rugby coaching for almost 10 years, which includes my current role as Rugby Development Officer at Jordanhill School.
After leaving school, I completed an HNC in Sports Coaching at Glasgow Clyde College before going to the University of Stirling to study sports. Alongside my studies, I regularly coached at Cartha Queen's Park, helping out with their junior teams, where I still play for the 1st XV. I am currently a World Rugby Educator and a UKCC Level 2 qualified coach. I am currently the Assistant Coach at Hillhead Jordanhill Women RFC.
The highlight for me as a young rugby player growing up would be the local rugby camps my club held during the school holidays. What's better than spending the entire day with your friends whilst chasing a rugby ball around? At Onside Performance, we aim to offer the same fun and enjoyment we had when we were young children.
We also want to challenge players and ensure they're not only developing as rugby players but also as individuals. Along with our coaching team, we aim to ensure our players leave each session having learned something new.
Outside of rugby, I enjoy playing golf, watching football & going on hill walks with my little pup, Harley.
I've been coaching rugby since the age of 15 when I left school to undertake an apprenticeship with Scottish Rugby. This fuelled the fire for me and confirmed coaching is what I love doing. I am currently the head of rugby at Kelvinside Academy.
I played the majority of my rugby for the 1st XV at Cartha Queen's Park but also had spells at Hillhead Jordanhill RFC, as well as a season playing for Stoke RFC in New Zealand. Currently, I am the attack coach for the Scottish Senior Futures Women's team. I am a World Rugby Educator and currently delivering on Scottish Rugby's new aspiring coaches course. Alongside this, I am currently studying an MSc in performance sports coaching.
It was a holiday camp that got me hooked on rugby and I am so thankful for that. Rugby has provided me with so many opportunities and continues to do so. I am hopeful that Onside Performance can be a platform to inspire young Rugby & Hockey players to want to have a lifelong involvement in sport.
We aim to create a safe environment where young players can come to have fun, learn and be challenged outside of their comfort zone.
Outside of rugby and coaching, I enjoy going to the gym, and spending time with friends, my wife and my dog, Blue.
